About Me

I am Kyla McKee and I am a recent graduate from the Honours International Development program at the University of Waterloo. I am originally from Guelph, Ontario and was drawn to International Development ever since I knew what it was. After visiting Guatemala when I was 16, I knew that this is what I wanted to dedicate my life to. My interests within the field are ever-changing, just like the field. My main interests are gender issues, small business management and entrepreneurship, and microfinance. In my personal time I love music, travelling, good food and cheesy movies.

I use my blog to discuss issues and stories that inspire, enrage or just interest me. I will also use it to share my travel adventure. I am currently doing a 6-month CIDA-funded internship through World Vision Canada. I am working at the national World Vision Ethiopia office in Addis Ababa on a pilot initiative with the Livelihoods Development team. The project’s goal is to help smallholder farmers by improving the services we offer them in partnership with Wisdom Microfinance.

My posts are my own and do not necessarily reflect the opinions, positions or strategies of Wisdom Microfinance or World Vision.

    Hi!
My name is Bella McDonald. For a school project, I am creating an actual blog that will address and educate on many world problems. I am very interested in blogs and love to write, but I have never created one before. How did you make your blog known? What tips or advice would you have for someone in my position? Anything would be gladly appreciated! Thank you.

    Hi there!
I found your lovely blog while researching past CIDA interns in Ethiopia. I too am a CIDA-funded intern and will be working in Addis Ababa from June- December. It would be great to connect and/or possibly coordinate our stay there. If you’re interested, feel free to email me: sousayi@gmail.com

    Best,
    Yasmine
